Hednesford-based Weedon PSC, the UK’s top independent producer of Retail Ready Packaging (RRP) and Point of Sale (POS) displays, has developed another innovative tool to support those still working during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The company is manufacturing social distancing standees. These corrugated board ‘people’ stand 6 feet tall and can be positioned between workers, for example on a production line, to mark the safe distance between individuals. They are strong but lightweight and can therefore be easily repositioned as workers move to new positions.
The firm has already received a number of orders from online retailers to protect employees on packaging lines, but the standee could also be used in supermarket queues, warehouses or offices.
Weedon PSC Managing Director John Weedon comments:
“The Weedon Group is still working during the pandemic as an essential business, producing packaging for food distribution and display in-store. We are using these standees in our own factories, to help protect our machine operators. They make it very easy to measure a safe distance between workers and prevent staff getting too close to each other and potentially spreading the virus.
“Our designers have been looking at new ways to use corrugated board to help in these difficult times. We have already developed a flat-packed desk made from corrugated board for home working, which is proving very popular. The standee is their latest innovative idea.”
