Weedon PSC of Hednesford, Staffordshire, one of the UK’s leading independent corrugated packaging manufacturers, has passed a recent ethical audit to become a member of Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange.
Retailers and consumer brands are under constant pressure to monitor and understand their supply chains, to ensure that they are free from unfair or unsafe labour practices, corruption and environmental negligence. Suppliers therefore often have to provide ethical data to its customers to demonstrate that their practices are ethical, sometimes undergoing multiple audits and complying with different codes and standards. Through Sedex, Weedon PSC will be able to share the same data with many customers, reducing the need for multiple audits and enabling its customers to see quickly and easily that its practices are ethical.
Sedex is a global not-for-profit membership organisation and home to one of the world’s largest collaborative platforms for buyers, suppliers and auditors to store, share and report on information quickly and easily. The platform is used by more than 38,000 members in over 150 countries to manage performance around labour rights, health & safety, the environment and business ethics. Sedex develops technology, tools and partnerships that enable many of the world’s leading brands and suppliers across the world to monitor and report on responsible practices.
Being a member of Sedex is a sign of Weedon PSC’s willingness to share information and to use this information to help manage and improve ethical standards within the supply chain.
John Weedon, Managing Director of Weedon PSC, said:
“Weedon PSC operates under a clear ethical code, with business practices that are socially responsible and protect the environment and the rights of workers. By becoming a member of Sedex, we are able to share information about our practices easily with our customers and they can be sure that, when they buy from us, they will be protecting the ethical integrity of their supply chains.”
